Our Pipeline
Disease models built from patient-derived cells and 3D co-culture

Rheumatoid arthritis synovium
Using patient-derived synovial cells on PCL scaffolds, we built a 3D model of synovial hyperplasia and used it to screen disease-modifying anti-rheumatic drugs. The same model was used to test ROS-responsive anti-inflammatory nanoparticles.

Tri-culture and cancer models
We developed a tri-culture platform on nanofibrous hydrogels (Biofabrication, 2025), which also underpins our retinal co-culture design.
Metastatic cancers such as breast cancer are hard to model in 2D. We are developing a system that predicts anticancer drug sensitivity using organoids derived from patient tissue.
Cell lines tested in Port Pocket culture
Five cell lines cultured for 14 days under the same conditions (5,000 cells per 20 µL dot).
| Cell line | Observation | Best readout window |
|---|---|---|
| Clone 1-5c-4 | Slow growth, tends to aggregate | Day 10–14 |
| MDCK | Fast growth, many spreading cells | Day 10–14 |
| Hep3B | Very slow growth | — |
| A549-GFP | Moderate growth, no aggregation | Day 14+ |
| RPE | Cells died during culture; conditions being revised | — |
