Our Pipeline
Retinal organoids from patient-derived cells, for human-relevant ophthalmic drug testing

Modeling the diseased retina
The retina is a layered tissue in which several cell types interact. We co-culture Müller glia, retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and vascular endothelial cells and design retina-specific ECM hydrogels to reproduce the microenvironment of diabetic retinopathy.
Patient-derived ocular cells from our clinical partner let us build datasets that separate disease, normal control and drug-treated groups.

Target indications
Diabetic retinopathy
Retinal vascular disease caused by diabetes; over 100 million patients worldwide.
Age-related macular degeneration
A leading cause of vision loss in older adults.
Retinitis pigmentosa
Inherited degeneration of the retina.
Epiretinal membrane
A fibrous membrane forming on the macular surface.
Development plan
